Improving Olanzapine Solubility through Co-Crystallization
The Problem
A formulation-focused project aimed at improving aqueous solubility and pharmaceutical performance through co-crystallization and supramolecular design.
How We Solved It
A 1:1 olanzapine–adipic acid co-crystal system was synthesized via slow solvent evaporation over 72 hours, followed by structural and physicochemical characterization.
Key Results
- Confirmation of OLZ co-crystal formation.
- Reduction in dissolution free energy.
- Improved properties for formulation-oriented applications.
Business Impact
Shows practical materials engineering under pharmaceutical constraints, with a simple and potentially scalable route to improve low-solubility compounds.
